Goucher receives $3.7 million from Decker estate

Much of the time a college relies on donations from alumni, but sometimes, major contributions come from other sources. This past month, Goucher received a $3.7 million bequest from the estate of Virginia and Alonzo Decker, of Black and Decker fame, neither of whom attended the undergraduate college.

Check out the wooded trail around our perimeter (it's easiest to enter behind Wagner, beyond the athletic practice fields, or by the back gate), but avoid going when the cross-country or equestrian teams will be on them.

I used to be just like you. Young, full of hope and dreams for the future. I wanted to be an astronaut, a writer, a sculptor, an Olympian. But then I came to Goucher- a joke, don't panic! That's not true (except for the astronaut bit) - not because Goucher doesn't have the capability to change you, for better or worse, but because I didn't embrace or engage this capability.

SRC changes to include turf, lights, more cardio equipment and weights

On August 4, Goucher College officially announced the addition of a brand-new weight room, cardio room and turf field with lights to its athletic facilities. Funding for the additions came from a portion of a recent $3.7 million gift. "Everyone wants to know the [answer] to the question: when? And I can't tell you when," said Athletic Director Geoff Miller.
